Day 1/
SUNDAY: PALERMO
Complimentary Private Transfer
to Hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
In the afternoon meeting with the Tour Escort. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2/
MONDAY: PALERMO – MONREALE – SELINUNTE
Breakfast in hotel. Half-day guided tour of Palermo, regional and provincial
capital of Sicily. Encircled by the mountains and the sea, it is a city steeped
in history. We will start the visit from the old part of the city the: the Royal
Palace, the Palatina Chapel and the Cathedral. Then we report to Monreale famous
for its Cathedral, with Byzantine mosaics, the figure of Christ Pantocreator and
the Cloister. Afterwards departure to Segesta, one of the most beautiful
archaeological sites of Sicily. Visit of the Doric temple whose majestic
appearance and dominating position bestows great nobility to the landscape.
Continue to Selinunte – dinner and overnight.
Day 3/
TUESDAY: SELINUNTE – ERICE – MARSALA - SELINUNTE
Breakfast in Hotel and visit of the archaeological park of Selinunte that
contains the ruins of the temples and Greek Acropolis. After departure to Erice,
visit of the medieval town on the summit of Monte San Giuliano On this excursion
we can admire the famous Norman Castle and the cathedral. During our visit stop
at the bakery shop to taste the typical almond pastry of Erice. On to Marsala
and visit the wine cellar where we will have a wine tasting. Come back to the
Hotel in Selinunte, dinner and overnight
Day 4/
WEDNESDAY: AGRIGENTO – PIAZZA ARMERINA – TAORMINA
Breakfast in Hotel. In the morning on to Agrigento and guided tour of the Valley
of Temples. We will admire the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde, one of
the most preserved doric temples in all greek world, the Temple of Ercules and
the Temple of Castor and Pollux. In the afternoon on to Piazza Armerina. Stop to
have a tasting of typical Sicilian food like olive paté, olves, marmelades and
wines. Afterwards visit the Villa Romana del Casale, famous for the most
beautiful collection of late-Roman mosaics. Visit also of the city and its
Cathedral. On to Taormina beach, arrival in the late afternoon in the Hotel,
allocation in reserved rooms. Dinner and overnight
Day 5/
THURSDAY: TAORMINA – ETNA – TAORMINA
Breakfast in Hotel. In the morning excursion to Etna, the highest mountain in
Sicily and the highest Vulcan in Europe. The territory surrounding of the vulcan
constitutes the “Park of Etna”, one of the largest protected area in Italy: we
will be very astonish about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that
we will meet along the way. We will arrive to the “Silvestri Craters” (about
1.900 mt); there we will have the possibility to continue the excursion by jeep
(facultative). Stop at local beekeeper to taste honey and to see how it is
processed. In the afternoon visit of Taormina situated on a rocky plateau on the
slopes of the steeply dropping Monte Tauro, dominating the Ionian coast from
Capo Sant’Andrea to Capo Taormina. Possibility to visit the Greek-Roman theatre,
the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily. Dinner and overnight
Day 6/
FRIDAY: TAORMINA – NOTO – SIRACUSA - TAORMINA
Breakfast in hotel. Full day excursion. First stop in Noto, to discover the
beautiful baroque in Sicily. On to Siracusa, one of the most interesting
archaeological site in the island. Guided tour of the Archaeological Park, the
Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Orecchio of Dionisio, the Grotta dei
Cordari, the Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its
interesting dom. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and
overnight.
Day 7/
SATURDAY: GIARDINI NAXOS
Breakfast in hotel. Free day in Giardini Naxos with free lunch. Dinner in the
Hotel in Taormina and overnight.
Day 8/
SUNDAY: TAORMINA MARE – MESSINA – TINDARI – CEFALU’ – PALERMO
Breakfast in Hotel and departure to Messina for a panoramic visit of the town.
On to Tindari to visit the Sanctuary of Madonna Nera (Black Virgin Mother). Stop
in Cefalù, to visit this little town and its famous Duomo Arabo-Normanno, one of
the most beautiful churches in Sicily, built by Ruggero II, first king of
Sicily. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 9:
PALERMO
Breakfast at the Hotel and
Complimentary Private Transfer
to the airport.
